Family Activities

Are you planning a vacation to Jersey City, New Jersey? Are you planning to take the kids along? There's no reason for the children of vacationers to languish at their homes in Hudson Valley towns while their parents are in Jersey City because there are plenty of fun things that the family could be doing together. Taking vacations together is a bonding experience that will bring you closer and create special memories. To get an overview of the sorts of things your family might be remembering fondly a few years from now, read this article.

Famous Monuments

Popular perception has the Statue of Liberty located in New York City, but the great lady actually resides here in Jersey City. A visit to the statue is fun for the whole family - photo opportunities, a little education, and of course a trip up to the observation platform in her hat. You can also see the benefits of SR&ED by visiting the world's largest clock - the Colgate Clock - right on the Hudson River.

Museums

You know that tons of strapping machinery arrives by boat to Jersey City every day, but did you know people did too? Visit historic Ellis Island to see who they were and how they lived. There are museums on every subject, so if you need to fill in the gaps left by school, try visiting a museum on Russian Art, or learning some history at the Jersey City Museum. For kids who love military hardware, there's also an exhibit space at the Jersey City Armory.

Parks

Meals don't have to be arranged by a Toronto caterer to be special. They can be as simple as a picnic lunch in a park while on vacation. Take in the scenic Hudson River views at Liberty State Park where you can hike, bike, canoe, and visit the science center. Another great place to go with the kids is the rugged Leonard Garden Park, which is filled with fascinating sculptures depicting bears, frontier life, and even World War II.

Entertainment

Just because your hotel has an instantaneous water heater doesn't mean you should stay in it all day. Some fun ways to entertain the kids while getting out and about include taking a helicopter or boat tour of the city, seeing an IMAX movie at the Liberty Science Center, or taking in a play or concert at one of the many theaters.
